Youth Employment Initiative


The youth are diverse – they differ in educational and cultural backgrounds, their skills and needs vary.  Each has a unique requirement to succeed.
The Youth Employment Initiative of Nairobi brings the youth of Nairobi under a common roof to identify and address employment needs.

Main Objective
To improve access to a fair labour market.

Immediate Objectives
  1. Encourage and strengthen networks and cooperation between youth organisations and relevant stakeholders at the labour market, in the delivery of youth employment creation services.
  2. Increase knowledge and skills of young people on employment possibilities/ entrepreneurship and support the youth entering the labour market, through capacity building of youth, youth organisations and development of training and networking models.
Target Groups
  • Job seeking youth of Nairobi
  • Age bracket 18 - 35 years
Implementation Period
August 2010 - July 2013

The Youth Employment Initiative of Nairobi is a partnership between Africa Youth TrustOne Stop Youth Information and Resource Centre and FIC.
